The Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights takes place on December 7th at the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront. This boat parade is part of the Potomac River holiday tradition that works in coordination with The District’s Holiday Boat Parade at the Wharf in Washington D.C. the same evening, beginning at 7 p.m.
Participate in dockside festivities as part of its 20th celebration. This historic waterfront will come to life in the twinkling lights as the boats cruise along the Potomac River. Watch as themed boats take to the river and sail with the holiday spirit. Previously themed boats took the stage, such as “Hanukkah, The Festival of Lights,” “A Bohemian Rhapsody Holiday,” “Little Drummer Boy and Friends,” and many more.
The parade stretches a mile long and can be viewed at choice destinations, such as Founders Park, Alexandria City Marina, Waterfront Park, Shipyard/Harborside Park, or Ford’s Landing Park. As for transportation, there are options such as the Metrorail, bus, car services, or the free King Street Trolley. Further transport information can be found on the website.
