When CarPool arrived on the scene back in 1996, it made an immediate impact, and today, Arlington locals know it as a great spot to meet for food and brews after work or to catch the big game with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic crowd. CarPool has an enormous seating area and more than a dozen big-screen televisions (including two enormous 120-inch screens), so you’re sure to find a good view no matter where you sit.
When it first opened, a billiards magazine named CarPool the best new pool hall in the country, and the bar has only expanded its offerings since then. No matter what your game is — pool, skee ball, shuffleboard, or darts —you can enjoy a few rounds with old friends, or meet some new ones in a bit of friendly competition. As for food, the menu features snack-heavy traditional bar food with a few local twists, like tater tots with Old Bay seasoning or baskets of bacon-loaded cheese fries.
All in all, CarPool makes for an upbeat and lively time near The Maxwell!

Yet to visit Pupatella, The Maxwell? The signs in the window that read “PIZZA ADDICTS ONLY” and “EVERYTHING IN MODERATION…EXCEPT PIZZA” tell you just about everything you need to know about this cozy storefront pizzeria in the Bluemont section of Arlington.
This is definitely a place that has a sense of humor, but it sure does take pizza seriously. Enzo Algarme, the head pizza maker at Pupatella, was born and trained in Naples and is committed to the principles of making Neapolitan pizza. That means using imported buffalo mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes, making fresh dough daily with simple and wholesome ingredients, and baking pies in an ultra-hot wood-fired oven for just a few minutes.
Yelp reviews call Pupatella one of the best places in the DC area to get an authentic traditional margherita pizza, so step up to the counter and order one of Enzo’s signature pizzas, or design your own combination of sauce, cheese, meat and vegetable toppings.
